For more than 35 years, Delaware Football Club (DEFC) has been a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing players, strengthening communities, and providing opportunities for every child to enjoy the game of soccer. As Delaware’s largest soccer club, DEFC serves more than 4,000 players and families each year through recreational, competitive, and developmental programming across the state.

Following years of success in northern and central Delaware, DEFC expanded into the Cape Region with the launch of DEFC South, bringing the club’s proven player development model and professional coaching to families throughout Sussex County.

Our Home at Hudson Fields

DEFC South is proud to call Hudson Fields its home in Southern Delaware. This partnership establishes Hudson Fields as the primary home for Delaware FC’s South Branch, providing players and families with access to one of the region’s premier sports destinations.

As part of this long-term collaboration, Hudson Fields has undergone significant enhancements, including the addition of state-of-the-art artificial turf soccer fields and new Bermuda grass fields designed to support year-round training, league play, tournaments, camps, and clinics. These improvements have created an exceptional playing environment while expanding opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels.

Together, Delaware FC and Hudson Fields are committed to growing youth soccer throughout Sussex County by investing in first-class facilities, expanding programming, and creating new opportunities for player development. The partnership also strengthens Southern Delaware’s ability to host regional tournaments and sporting events, bringing families, visitors, and economic impact to the local community.

As Hudson Fields continues to grow, DEFC South is excited to build a permanent home where players can develop, compete, and create lasting memories for generations to come.

Whether a child is kicking a ball for the first time or pursuing opportunities to play at the highest levels of the game, DEFC offers a pathway designed to meet every player where they are.

Our programs include:

Recreational Soccer – A fun, welcoming environment focused on learning the game, building confidence, and enjoying the experience of playing with friends.
Competitive Soccer – Professional coaching and year-round development for players looking to compete at higher levels throughout the region.
Camps and Clinics – Seasonal opportunities to improve technical skills, build confidence, and stay active throughout the year.
TOPSoccer – A free community-based program designed for athletes with intellectual, emotional, and physical disabilities, ensuring every player has the opportunity to experience the joy of soccer.

Player Development & Pathway

For more than 35 years, Delaware FC has built a reputation as a leader in player development. Our philosophy is centered on long-term growth, creating opportunities for every player to learn, improve, and reach their full potential.

From U4 through U23, DEFC offers a complete player pathway that supports athletes of all ages and skill levels. Younger players focus on developing technical skills, confidence, creativity, and a love for the game before progressing into more advanced tactical concepts and competitive team play. Every player is encouraged to develop at their own pace in a positive, challenging, and supportive environment.

Our experienced coaching staff is the largest in Delaware and includes coaches with collegiate and professional playing and coaching experience. Rather than simply identifying talent, our focus is on developing it. Over the years, DEFC has helped players advance to top regional and national youth leagues, MLS academies, collegiate soccer programs, and professional opportunities in both the United States and abroad.
